Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove is located in the southeast section of the Dallas. This is an interesting community that is currently in transition. It is a working-class area that once had a nearly perfect balance of black, Hispanic and white households. However since 2000 it has become majority Hispanic and only has a very small White population left. African Americans make up approximately 30% of the population in Pleasant Grove but have higher concentrations near the main corridor of Buckner Blvd.

A large majority (81%) of households are single family homes with a median home value of only $55,000 and average rents ranges between $700 and $950 a month. Less than 10% of the population has a bachelor’s degree.
